Breaking: Oyo State Teacher’s Join Nationwide Strike

The Oyo state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has directed public schools teachers in the state to comply with the request of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the national level for a national strike.

In a statement signed by the assistant state secretary of the NUT, Amuda Adegoke, titled, “Declaration of national strike by NLC– A request for total compliance,” and obtained by ogbomosoinsightonline.com, the teachers were ordered to comply.

“I am directed to urge our teeming members across the state that total compliance is expected to be accorded the directive released on the NLC/TUC national strike.

“Consequently, teachers are directed to withdraw their services until further instruction is given by our parent body.”

The strike was declared by the NLC and the TUC to protest the attack on the national chairman of NLC Joe Ajaero recently in Imo state by security operatives believably acting on the order of the Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma.

Newsmen observes some teachers in the state have complied as their students were asked to go home.
