Says party won’t encourage saboteurs

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has in a strategic move towards the forthcoming 2024 Local Government Elections in the State the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) convened a special meeting at the State Party Secretariat, Molete, Ibadan. The session, which was chaired by HON. James Olukunle, the State Deputy Chairman, brought together key stakeholders including the 33 local government chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates, 33 local Government Party Chairmen, and the entire State Executives of the Party.

The Party said its primary objective of the meeting was to officially hand over all Party candidates to the Local Government Party Chairmen, entrusting them with the responsibility to diligently work for the success of the candidates at the polls next year.

Hon. James Olukunle, in his capacity as the chair, emphasized the importance of focusing on merit and party structure, urging candidates to rise above sentiments, political leanings, and factional politics for the greater good.

Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the State Secretary, in his address, underscored the Party’s directive that all Party Local Government Chapters establish offices. He stressed that party meetings should take place in these designated offices, not in private residences, ensuring transparency and adherence to the established structure.

However, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke issued a stern warning, stating that the Party would not hesitate to sanction any party official or candidate found tarnishing the integrity, sanctity, and image of the Party.

The party said the significant gathering marked a crucial step in the Oyo State PDP’s preparations for the upcoming elections, setting the tone for a united and organized campaign. The Party remains committed to upholding its principles and ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
