Onpetu Commends Makinde’s Six Years of Transformation, Presents Ogbomoso South Development Requests for 2026 Budget

The Onpetu of Ijeruland and Chairman, Ogbomoso South Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun III, has commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for six years of outstanding and inclusive leadership that has brought a new face to governance in Oyo State.
Represented by Oba Bolarinwa Ezekiel Olajide I, the Onisaapa of Isapa, the monarch gave the commendation on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, during the Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting on the Year 2026 Budget held at the Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Secretariat, Ajaawa.
Presenting the Ogbomoso South Local Government’s position paper, He described Governor Makinde as a visionary and compassionate leader whose tenure has ushered in visible progress in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and social development. He said the governor’s style of administration has rekindled citizens’ confidence in government as a true partner in grassroots growth.
The respected monarch expressed the community’s deep appreciation for the governor’s approval of about fifteen kilometres of inner roads within Ogbomoso South Local Government, describing the gesture as a demonstration of fairness, inclusion, and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.
“Our people are saying thank you, thank you, and thank you, Your Excellency,” the monarch stated, conveying the heartfelt gratitude of the residents of Ogbomoso South to the governor for his continued attention to their needs.
He, however, appealed for more state government intervention, describing the following as the immediate yearnings of the people of Ogbomoso South which should be captured in the 2026 budget:
1. Construction of adjoining and hinterland roads across the length and breadth of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, including C.A.C Grammar School – Ayegun Yemetu Road, Owolaake–Ibapon Road,Irewolede – Yaaku Road, among others.
2. Construction of a new Local Government Secretariat to enhance administrative efficiency and improve public service delivery.
3. Provision of security through the perimeter fencing of schools in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area to safeguard pupils and teachers.
4. Dredging of major streams and rivers within the council area to prevent flooding and improve environmental safety, including Ogunbado Stream,
Oba Stream,
Ora River,
Akata/Oke Alapata,
Odokoto Stream,
Alalubosa River,
Beulah River,
and Okeosuru Stream.
5. Construction of Beulah Area Bridge to ease movement and boost local economic activities.
The Oba also commended the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning and his team for sustaining a participatory approach that allows grassroots communities to contribute meaningfully to state planning and development.
He reaffirmed the support of the people of Ogbomoso South for Governor Makinde’s administration, describing the governor as “a leader of purpose and vision whose commitment to equitable development continues to bring pride to the people of Oyo State.”
