In the wake of a tragic incident in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, where a family faced devastating consequences after consuming allegedly poisoned cassava flour, the Chairman of Ogbomoso South, Prince Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy on Tuesday has stepped forward to offer support and compassion to those affected.

The family, consisting of a grandmother identified as Mrs. Victoria Paul Adewole, her four children, and a granddaughter, ingested the contaminated food for dinner on Wednesday night.

According to sources, the family resorted to using cassava peels, ground into flour, as a substitute for yam or cassava flour due to financial constraints.

Shortly after consuming the meal, the family members began experiencing discomfort, prompting a distress call that alerted neighbors. Swift action from the community saw the family rushed to a private hospital in Ogbomoso. Tragically, despite medical intervention, the granddaughter succumbed to the effects of the poisoning.
