In a fierce exchange of words, the Oyo State PDP Media Team responded to recent allegations made by the embattled Oyo State APC PRO, Wasiu Sadare, against Governor Seyi Makinde. The PDP categorically dismissed the accusations as unfounded and aimed at diverting attention from the APC’s own governance shortcomings.

The PDP’s scathing response highlighted the irony of the APC demanding accountability from Governor Makinde, emphasizing that it is the APC itself that should be held responsible for the economic mismanagement and lack of progress in Oyo State. The party accused the APC of presiding over 55 months of economic stagnation despite receiving substantial federal allocations, internally generated revenue, loans, and grants.

Addressing the APC’s claim that Governor Makinde blamed the federal government’s removal of fuel subsidy for the worsening economic situation, the PDP clarified that the governor was expressing concern about the hasty implementation of the decision and its impact on citizens.

The PDP also questioned the sincerity of the APC’s concern for the people, especially regarding allegations of mismanagement of petroleum resources, calling for a comprehensive investigation into the party’s handling of funds at both the state and federal levels.

On the issue of poverty, the PDP attributed it to the APC-led administration’s failure to empower local governments, create employment opportunities, and effectively utilize available resources. The media team reiterated Governor Makinde’s commitment to reversing the damage inherited from the APC and actively pursuing initiatives to revitalize commerce and agriculture.

In conclusion, the Oyo State PDP urged the public to see through the APC’s “smoke and mirrors” tactics, calling for a focus on tangible results. The party emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to address economic challenges and reaffirmed Governor Makinde’s dedication to steering Oyo State toward genuine progress.
