Breaking: Surulere LG Vice Chairman, Maruf Gbadamosi Suspended Indefinitely

The Legislative Arm of Surulere Local Government has suspended the vice chairman of Surulere Local Government and the political head of Surulere South LCDA, Hon Maruf Gbadamosi in the plenary session which took place in the early hours of Friday, 3/11/ 2023 at the Oluwakemi Alao-Akala Legislative Chambers at the local government secretariat, Iresaadu.

While moving the motion for the suspension, the Majority leader of the House, Hon. Kareem Babatunde Sulaimon from Igbon/Gambari ward accused the vice chairman of fraudulent duplication and selling of rate receipts for personal enrichment, non-attendance of security meetings for years despite receiving huge amounts of money to that effect from security voting financial backing, negligence of duty, auctioning of council vehicles and tractors inclusive to self through surrogates and shabby implementation of projects.

Other offences include selling and allocating of government property with neither accountability nor due process, abuse of office through hijacking of government contracts in contravention to the constitution, shabby dealings leading to incessant police invitations, arrests and detentions despite being the occupant of official position which goes with integrity and respect, abandonment of official secretariat and turning his residential room to operational office for months, high handedness leading to exodus of staff to other local government areas of the State and zero accountability on implemented project e.g shabby implementation of channelization of of White House road, Oko.

Hon. Odedeji Ezekiel Oluwaseun from Iregba ward 06 seconded the motion to suspend Hon. Maruf Gbadamosi indefinitely.

The House leader of the Surulere Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Ibitoye Simeon who presided over the plenary session called for adoption of suspension and subjected it to voting, all the ten councillors in attendance all voted in support of the motion calling for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Maruf Gbadamosi as the vice chairman of Surulere Local Government and the political head of Surulere South LCDA.
