Oyo East Lawmakers Suspends Chair, Arowosaye over Misappropriation

As the crisis keeps rocking the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo East local government, some members of the legislative arm of the Oyo East Local Government Area at its plenary presided over by the Leader, Idowu Okunade on Tuesday suspended the Chairman of the council, Mr Saheed Arowosaye and three others for alleged financial misappropriation, insubordination among others.

This was part of the resolutions of the lawmakers at the emergency plenary held on Tuesday.

Aside the LG chairman, the lawmakers also suspended the Political Head of the LCDA, Mr Bamise Alabi.

Two councilors; Lasisi Kazeem Akinkunmi Eja, Ward 3 and Ajisebotan Yusuf Olatunji were also suspended for what the lawmakers described as insubordination and breach of trust.

During the plenary, Mustapha Abduwasiu Ademola (WASPA) moved the motion for indefinite suspension of the Chairman, Arowosaye to enable the council investigate petition before it which indicted the Chairman of financial recklessness and diversion of funds.

While seconding the motion, Mr Olatunde Olayinka Saheed said the LG account should be frozen with immediate effect in order to pave way for House to investigate the matter before it.

The House resolved that property of the local government with them should be handed over to Head of Local Government Administration of Oyo East Local Government.
