Anglican Gram Sch, 5 Others Closed Over Students’ Unrest
Oyo state ministry of education, science and technology, has announced the closure of six secondary schools in Ibadan, the state capital, over violent clashes among their students.
In a press release Wednesday signed by the ministry’s commissioner Barrister Rahman Abiodun Abdu-Raheem the affected schools, which included Anglican Grammar School, Molete, St. Lukes Grammar School, Molete, St. Lukes College, Molete, Ibadan Grammar School, Molete, Olubi Memorial Grammar School, Kudeti and St. David Grammar School Kudeti are to remain shut till Tuesday March 21.
According to the commissioner, “the measure is taken to arrest the unabating violent clashes among the students of the various schools which have witnessed destruction of properties, injuries to residents and innocent commuters alike as well as the disruption of normal activities and peace of the affected communities.
“The schools will remain closed until Tuesday 21st March, 2023, when appropriate measures will have been put in place to prevent a reoccurrence of the incessant incidents of students’ restiveness in the axes.”
