Executive Chairman, Ogbomoso South Local Government, Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has called on Nigerians to go out and collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the January 29 deadline.

Oyedokun Oyeniyi, in a statement signed by his media aide, Femi Ajiboye said the opportunity provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registered voters to exercise their civic responsibility should be grabbed with passion ahead of the much-awaited elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards until Sunday, January 29, 2023.

INEC earlier fixed the collection deadline as Sunday, January 22, 2023. After a meeting on Thursday, INEC said it had pushed the deadline by eight days.

The council boss lamented high rate of voter apathy witnessed in previous elections in Ogbomoso zone calling that such must not be allowed to repeat itself in the 2023 elections as the upcoming elections will be a determining factor in the future of Ogbomoso and Nigeria.

He appealed to residents and citizens of Ogbomoso South and Nigerians to be ready to come out and vote and make a key decision that is instrumental to the formation of a better Nigeria under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Also, he advised voters to be wary of desperate APC politicians who would want to induce them with monetary gifts in exchange for their voter cards in the upcoming elections, calling them to stand their feet and follow the electoral process from start to finish, rejecting any financial inducement or harassment.
