Oyedokun Oyeniyi inspects ongoing road project, applauds Makinde

Executive Chairman, Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy, has inspected some ongoing road construction projects in the council area.

Speaking on Tuesday during the inspection visit to the ongoing Ijeru to Arowomole road project, Hon Oyedokun expressed satisfaction at the pace of work and the construction firms, keeping to project schedule and specifications.

He said his administration was poised to take advantage of the dry season in order to construct and rehabilitate roads and open new roads in the council area, which he said he has embarked on in the last few months.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his media aide, Femi Ajiboye, Oyedokun said before the project was awarded “whenever am plying the road, I feel sad due to the swampy and unbelievably bad state the road is, rainfall also made it unmotorable to the extent that it was cutoff from plying.

“But now, the story has changed for the better for  residents and commuters as they now ply this road with ease and take noticeably brief time to get to their destinations and we must commend His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde for approving the cost of the project despite that it was the Federal government who destroyed it and they pledged on many occasions to find a temporary solution to it.” Oyedokun said

Some of the respondents, who spoke to ROUNDOYO on the ongoing asphalt overlay of the road, said the intervention of the present administration has reduced time, cost of transportation and improved socioeconomic potentials of businesses owners in the area.

Mr Adebayo Oluokun, a community leader at Ijeru, narrated the harrowing experience navigating through the road since it was destroyed, saying the present administration has brought unforgettable dividends of democracy to the axis.

“Before now, we could hardly pass through here with cars. We are now enjoying the road unlike in the past. The road is good. For now, to move from Arowomole to Ojaaigbo is very easy for us.

“We are grateful to the Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy led government in Ogbomoso South. We are also thankful to the Oyo state government, especially our governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, may God help them to the next level.

Hon Oyedokun began his inspection tour in Ijeru axis where the contractors on site were busy with the construction work, as he subsequently moved to Arowomole where the residents welcomed him all saying Thank you
