The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Oyo state chapter, has commended governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s commitment to workers welfare and improved condition of service.

The teachers professional body knocked the last administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what was described as a sordid and bitter experience saying “thousands of family dependants who had for the past 5 years 6 months subjected to untold economic hardship through the sacking of their breadwinners have again been given a new lease of life.”

The grateful teachers explained that Makinde’s principle of leadership is perpetually rested on the logic of ‘service to humanity’.

The Oyo state chapter of the NUT in a press release on Friday July 1 jointly signed by its state Chairman, Raji Oladimeji Ismail and the state Secretary, N. M. Abdullahi expressed its gratitude to Governor Makinde for showing what was described as unprecedented level of commitment to workers, especially teachers welfare in the state.

According to the press release obtained by ROUNDOYO, Makinde’s commitment to teachers welfare was further demonstrated when the Governor directed that the old order of six years promotion waiting period for teachers of primary schools which has been in practice for about 26yrs be vacated.

ROUNDOYO recalled that Governor Makinde threw teachers in the state into an euphoria of jubilation recently when he promoted no fewer than 7,460 and their promotion letters distributed to the effect immediately.

“Exceedingly, the state leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Oyo state wing, is particularly grateful to His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, whose principle of leadership rests on the logic of ‘service to humanity’.

“The reflection of this has again been demonstrated through the vacation of the old order of six years
