Insecurity: Ogbomoso Zone LG Chairs Host Meeting With Monarchs, Religious Leaders, Others.

As part of their continued efforts to nip crimes and criminality in the bud in Ogbomoso axis, the local government Chairmen across the five local government areas in Ogbomoso zone of Oyo state on Saturday held another security interactive meeting.

The meeting which had in attendance traditional rulers, religious heads, representative of Ogbomoso consultative forum amidst other stakeholders was held to consolidate on the previous expanded security meetings and to further deliberate over the recent insecurity challenges bedeviling the zone.

The meeting which was held at the Methodist Church of Ogbomoso Diocese Bishop’s Cour, Arowomole was aimed at seeing more cooperation and collaboration among security agencies, governments, and the traditional institution in the axis, maintaining that such cooperation would help to improve the security situation.

Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi urge traditional rulers not to be aiding operations of criminals.

He said ” The government needs 100 percent cooperation from our traditional rulers, most expecially those at the border areas to the northern region of the country, as the influx of foreigners into the southern part of the country through remote areas and villages are posing threats to our security.

“After the evaluation of our situation and the issues raised during our last two meetings we held in less than two weeks jointly by the five council areas and individually in our Council areas, we called this third meeting as we will not sleep nor slumber till we overcome our security challenges.

“We all know that security cannot work without intelligence gathering and we cannot gather intelligence without getting closer to the people, our royal fathers often get information before security agencies do and that is why it is important that we must collaborate with them and deliberate with them to profer solutions,” he added.

Among those present at the meeting are, Onpetu of Ijeru, HRM Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran Osekun III, Alaajawa of Ajaawa, HRM Oba Thompson Adeyeye, Aresapa of Iresa-Apa, HRM Oba Moses Olayiwola, Bishop Ogbomoso Methodist Diocese, Bishop Ademola Moradeyo, President Ogbomoso Baptist Conference Rev Dr Niyi Ojo, the five council chairmen in Ogbomoso zone among other concerned stakeholders.
