Oyo APC Primary Elections: Youth Leaders – John Aremu, Sayo Fatoki, Akin-Akinwale, Others Sue for Peace, Decorum
As Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress commences its primaries, Oyo state APC Youth Leader, Prince John Oyetunji Aremu, his Deputy, Hon. Sayo Fatoki, Oyo Central Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Akin Akinwale, Oyo North Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Adedeji Sikiru and Oyo South Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Ogunbiyi Rasheed Niran have collectively sued for peace and decorum during the party’s forthcoming primary elections.
This appeal is contained in a press release, jointly signed by the critical progressive youth leadership in the state and which was made available to the journalists, yesterday, in Ibadan.
The release goes thus,”Appeal for Peace and Decorum in Our Forthcoming Primary Elections! There is no denying that in the Pacesetter State, Oyo APC is home to the most brilliant, resourceful and people-centred politicians to the envy of other parties.
“Our party deservedly boasts of performing Senators, Federal Honourables, Federal Appointees and State legislators who continue to bring dividends of democracy closer to the people.
“But this concentration of juggernauts, visionary and astute politicians under one roof imposes on the party a daunting responsibility of choosing just one out of many bests as the flag bearer for each position across the state.
“This difficult but unavoidable duty will be undertaken by over 500 delegates elected across wards, local governments and senatorial districts.
“Dear delegates, not only does the destiny of this formidable family lie with you, but that of Oyo State also rests on your decision as citizens are looking up to the All Progressives Congress to save them from the directionless governance of the ruling party in the state.
“As you proceed with this duty, the leadership of the youth wing of our party appeal that you use this mandate judiciously by putting the interest of the party first.
“We equally beseech and appeal that you consider the yearning of youths aspiring for positions in our party by giving them your mandate and ensure their eventual emergence in the general elections.
“Let’s note that we have proven track record of peaceful conduct which remains unmatched, therefore, we appeal that you keep it undefeated by remaining peaceful during the exercise, maintaining decorum; and above all exercising the highest possible level of sound judgement.
“As always, let us conduct ourselves as a shining example for other political parties by ensuring a peaceful, credible, and rancour-free primary election for the love of our dear party and Oyo State”.
