In another bold stride that cements his reputation as one of Oyo State’s most outstanding grassroots leaders, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy, has recorded yet another milestone achievement with the commissioning of a new Customary Grade A Court at Ijeru-Oba, Ogbomoso South.

The historic event, held on Wednesday, was graced by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima, who led members of the National Judicial Council, NJC, judges, justices, and top judicial officers to officially inaugurate the new court complex, another first in the history of Ogbomoso South.

The project stands as a clear testament to Hon. Oyedokun’s visionary and people centered leadership, with his administration’s development agenda now touching every sector, from infrastructure and justice to health, education, and economic empowerment.

In his remarks, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy described the commissioning as a dream fulfilled and a strong institutional legacy for the people of Ogbomoso South.

“This court represents more than just a physical structure; it symbolizes our unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and equality. With this, our people can now access justice more easily at the grassroots level,” he said.

He appreciated the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, for creating an enabling environment for local government growth, and also commended the Chief Judge, the Attorney General, and the NJC for their collaborative roles in actualizing the project.

Hon. Oyedokun specially acknowledged Barrister Ayoola Ajayi, whose advocacy and persistent effort helped secure the court’s approval, noting that his contribution would not be forgotten.

While commending the chairman’s achievement, the Onpetu of Ijeruland and Permanent Chairman, Ogbomoso South Council of Obas, HRM Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran Olagbami Osekun III, revealed that the land on which the court now stands had been approved for a magistrate court since 2004, but the then administration forfeited it until Hon. Oyedokun took the bold step.

“The chairman has shown exceptional leadership and determination. What others couldn’t do for years, he has done with focus and dedication,” the monarch stated.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Tajudeen Abdul Ganiyu, the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government, Hon. Akintunde Olajide, Alhaji Gbadegesin Rasaq of the Governor’s Advisory Council, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ogbomoso Zone, political stakeholders, and community leaders.

As part of his closing remarks, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy urged residents to be law-abiding, protect public infrastructure, and always seek redress through the court rather than taking laws into their own hands.

He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, development, and fairness, promising to continue delivering projects that strengthen institutions and improve lives in Ogbomoso South.
