Olubadan, Oba Ladoja Quits Politics, Promises Justice and Fairness

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has officially bowed out of active politics, bringing an end to a remarkable era in Oyo State’s political history.
Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, made the declaration on Tuesday while receiving the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai; former Senate President, Iyorcha Ayu; and other dignitaries who paid him a courtesy visit.
Reflecting on his long journey in politics, the revered monarch recalled his early days in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), his exile years with Atiku, his return to the PDP, and later his creation of the Accord Party, which became a political force in Ibadan and across Oyo State.
Now occupying the revered Olubadan stool, Oba Ladoja said his new calling requires complete devotion to traditional leadership.
“I am no more one of you. I am not a politician anymore. Now that I am the Olubadan, I am no more interested in any other thing than serving my people,” the monarch stated.
He assured that his reign will be guided by justice, fairness, and service to Ibadanland, Oyo State, Africa, and the world.
