JUBRIL OF SUDAN NO MORE! MUHAMMADU BUHARI IS DEAD

…..EX-PRESIDENT WHO SPENT MUCH OF HIS PRESIDENCY ON UK MEDICAL TRIPS PASSES IN LONDON CLINIC
Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has died.
The ex-leader gave up the ghost earlier today in a private London hospital after weeks of intensive care. His death was confirmed in a short statement released by his former spokesman, Garba Shehu.
“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London. May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus.”
The 81-year-old retired General and former Head of State finally bowed out in the city where he spent a good portion of his presidency — not in office, but in hospital wards.
During his eight-year rule from 2015 to 2023, Buhari embarked on at least 13 known medical trips to the United Kingdom. Nigerians will remember the “ear infection” trip of 2016, his 50-day medical vacation in 2017, and the record-breaking 104-day stay later that year that left the nation in suspense.
With every return, questions about his health loomed. And when he disappeared again in 2018 for fresh treatment, he admitted, “I have never been so sick in my life.” Those words became etched in national memory.
But perhaps what lingered most was the bizarre theory that followed — a claim that Buhari had died and been replaced by a clone named Jubril from Sudan. That tale grew so popular that he had to address it himself while on international duty in Poland, saying: “It’s the real me, I assure you.”
Now, the real Muhammadu Buhari is no more. Jubril of Sudan — or whoever they thought he was — has also gone with him.
His final public outing came in May 2025 when he sent a goodwill message to ECOWAS leaders during their 50th anniversary in Lagos. Shortly after, whispers of his ICU admission in London began. The family kept details sealed — until now.
As condolences pour in from friends, critics, and political associates, reactions remain sharply divided. While some mourn the passing of a disciplined statesman and anti-corruption crusader, others remember a presidency marked by economic hardship, rising insecurity, and a weakened healthcare system — which he himself avoided.
He is survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, several children, grandchildren, and a deeply divided legacy.
May his soul rest in peace.
