Makinde Pledges Action on Ogbomoso Zone Issues at Assembly Anniversary, Says Majority Leader Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin

The Oyo State House of Assembly commemorated its first anniversary today with a plenary sitting attended by His Excellency, Engineer Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, and Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal.

The session included the entire executive council and provided a platform for representatives from various zones to present regional challenges and requests before the governor’s State of the State address.

Majority Leader Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, representing Ogbomoso South, spoke on behalf of the Ogbomoso zone. “We are deeply grateful to Governor Makinde for the construction and commissioning of the 76km Ogbomoso-Iseyin road,”

Hon. Adedoyin stated, highlighting the significant infrastructure development for the region. He, however, emphasized the need for increased security on this newly constructed road due to the rising number of passengers and associated safety concerns.

In addition, Hon. Adedoyin conveyed appreciation for the appointment of Professor Rom Kalilu as the Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, recognizing the governor’s commitment to promoting academic excellence.

Highlighting regional infrastructure needs, Hon. Adedoyin called attention to the poor condition of inter-township roads within Ogbomoso, urging the governor to initiate immediate reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts. He also addressed the abandoned street light project stretching from Seminary to High School area in Ogbomoso South.

“The project has been stalled for over two years due to the contractor’s disappearance,” Adedoyin noted, “hindering development in the area.” He appealed to Governor Makinde to either recall the contractor or re-award the contract without further delay.

Furthermore, Hon. Adedoyin stressed the necessity of establishing a cashew processing industry in Oriire Local Government Area, given the region’s abundant cashew supply. He also advocated for the revival and completion of the abandoned juice processing industry in Oko, Surulere Local Government, which holds significant potential for local economic development.

In his State of the State address, Governor Makinde assured the assembly of his administration’s commitment to addressing these issues. “We are dedicated to enhancing infrastructure and promoting economic development across Oyo State,” the governor promised, assuring prompt action on the matters raised by the Ogbomoso zone representatives.

The session concluded with a renewed sense of hope and anticipation for the implementation of these critical projects, aiming to foster growth and improve the quality of life in Ogbomoso and the entire Oyo State.
