2027: Zone Your Guber Tickets to Ogbomoso – Ogbomoso Group Urges Political Parties

As the race to the 2027 general elections heats up, a political pressure group, The Ogbomoso Project (TOP), has asked all political parties to zone their party’s governorship tickets to the Ogbomoso Zone, comprising local government areas.

The group whose aim is to mobilise all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso, both at home and abroad, to unite behind the project for the actualisation of the Oyo State Governorship position for Ogbomoso Zone, is being led by its Convener, Prince Olusegun Oyeniyi.

In a press release shared with journalists on Wednesday by its Convener, the group, which also seeks to rally all political parties to zone their gubernatorial tickets to the zone, said it is set to bring together individuals from Ogbomoso, regardless of their political affiliations, to work towards achieving the common goal of securing the governorship seat for the zone.

“The time is now for Ogbomoso to take the reins of Oyo State. We have waited patiently, and it is time for our turn. We shall move around for support both in and outside Ogbomoso, to engage with various stakeholders to drive this agenda and ensure our interest in being the next governor of the state is well-presented in the state’s political landscape,” Prince Oyeniyi declared.

The move is seen by many as a response to the long-standing demand for equitable representation and development in Oyo State, with Ogbomoso being a significant contributor to the state’s economy, socio-cultural image and politics.

The group further stated that the process has begun and will soon commence engagement with various stakeholders, including community leaders, politicians, and the general public, regarding the project.
