The political equation in Ogbomoso South took a decisive turn today as the last remaining structure of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) officially collapsed into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking the total end of NNPP’s presence in the local government.

The defection, led by Hon. Paul Adeniji, popularly known as Esupofo, the NNPP House of Assembly candidate in the last general election, has completely dismantled the party’s base as all NNPP offices in Ogbomoso South have reportedly been shut down, and party meetings discontinued.

Receiving the defectors at the council secretariat, the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon. Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy, described the development as a great political victory and a strong message that PDP remains the only dominant and people-oriented party in Ogbomoso South.

He said, “This is a clear testament that our party remains the people’s choice. We welcome you wholeheartedly and assure you of equal opportunities as we work together to move Ogbomoso South forward.”

Also speaking, Hon. Rotimi Oladipupo commended the new members for their courageous decision, saying, “The PDP is a home of service, inclusion, and progress. Your decision today further strengthens our base and deepens our unity ahead of future political engagements.”

In his remarks, the PDP Party Chairman in Ogbomoso South, Alhaji Rashidi Jimoh Ayinla, welcomed the defectors and encouraged them to immediately identify with their respective ward structures. “Politics begins from the grassroots. Ensure your presence is felt at your wards as you integrate fully into our great party,” he said.

With this latest move, Esupofo equally confirms thats the NNPP’s existence in Ogbomoso South has officially come to an end, as he further cements PDP’s dominance as the unrivaled political force in the area
