Governorship hopeful, Dr. Gbenga Adegbola, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State risks another electoral defeat in 2027 if party leaders impose candidates instead of allowing grassroots members to make their choice.

The retired military officer and businessman issued the warning in an interview on Fresh FM, Ibadan, stressing that unity, reconciliation, and credible primaries were non-negotiable for the APC’s chances of victory.

“If imposition happens again, APC will fail again. Oyo is too dynamic for ‘jagba’ politics,” he said.

Adegbola, who blamed the party’s recent defeats on disunity, urged leaders to embrace listening leadership and genuine reconciliation. He maintained that competence and vision, not zoning, should determine the governorship ticket.

Promising to pursue inclusive growth, he lamented the neglect of Oke-Ogun’s economic potential and pledged to implement local government autonomy while strengthening partnerships with traditional and religious leaders.

“My administration will build on the positives but focus on sustainability, inclusiveness, and unlocking Oke-Ogun’s resources for real development,” he assured.
