The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso North Local Government has reacted to the recent defection of some of its members, describing them as political office seekers driven solely by ambition rather than principles.

In a statement signed by the Party Secretary, Jimoh Sikiru Idowu, the PDP expressed appreciation to members of the public for their concern but assured that the defections pose no threat to the party’s structure or popularity in the council area.

According to the party, those who defected lack the loyalty, discipline, and commitment that the PDP is known for, and their departure will not derail the ongoing efforts of the party to deliver good governance in alignment with Governor Seyi Makinde’s transformational leadership across the state.

“The PDP is not a cathedral for desperate politicians who have no regard for the party’s constitution and organizational creed. Their exit only exposes their political desperation,” the statement read.

The party maintained that its followership in Ogbomoso North remains strong and ready for a successful electoral outing in the 2027 general elections.

The statement also alleged that the defectors will soon face rejection in their new political homes, noting that their history of seeking positions without meaningful contributions will soon catch up with them.

The party reiterated its commitment to civility and issue-based politics, promising to continue implementing people-oriented policies and programmes. It also lauded Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, described as the esteemed Zonal Leader, for his developmental strides in Ogbomoso land.

The PDP urged the public to remain confident in its leadership, dismissing the defections as inconsequential to its political fortunes.
