Hon. Bolanle Amina Sarumi, popularly known as BASA, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), bringing an end to her six-year affiliation with the party.
In a letter dated June 12, 2025, addressed to the Ward 5 Chairman in Ibadan North Local Government, Sarumi expressed gratitude for the support she received over the years while highlighting her achievements and reasons for exiting the party.
In the letter obtained by RoundOyo, BASA extended heartfelt appreciation to the party leadership at various levels, particularly her ward chairman, Alhaji Ramoni Ogunrinde, and the 12 women leaders in her local government, who she praised for their consistent solidarity and support throughout her political journey.
“Your strength and solidarity will never be forgotten,” she wrote, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to women in politics.
BASA also thanked Governor Seyi Makinde, under whose administration she served as Senior Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters from 2020 to 2022. During her tenure, she stated that she successfully repatriated over 400 trafficked Nigerian victims, including young individuals stranded abroad, back to the country.
“We were able to make huge impacts for this. I am grateful to the Governor,” she added.
While her next political move has not been officially disclosed, Sarumi’s resignation marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Ibadan North, where she has remained a vocal advocate for women, youth, and diaspora engagement.
