LAUTECH Inaugural Lecture: Prof. Adeola Ehigie to Speak on Mitochondrial Function

The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, will host its 63rd inaugural lecture on Thursday, March 27, 2025, with Professor Adeola Folasade Ehigie as the guest lecturer.

Professor Ehigie, a scholar in protein science and membrane biochemistry, will deliver a lecture titled The Powerhouse in Reverse Gear: When the Mitochondrial Pore Stays Open at The Great Hall, LAUTECH, by 12 noon.

The lecture will explore mitochondrial function, bioenergetics, and their implications for human health and disease.

A distinguished academic, Professor Ehigie holds B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ibadan. She is a fellow of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (FOWSD) and a member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology (NISEB), the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

The Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor R. O. Rom Kalilu, will preside over the event, which is expected to attract academics, researchers, and industry professionals.

A professorial thanksgiving and birthday reception will follow at Jodeb Ultimate Event Center, Fountain Area, Ogbomoso, under the chairmanship of the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Public Orientation, Oyo State, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

The university community and the general public are invited to attend.
