Oyo PDP Suspends Saki East Chairman Over Anti-Party Activities

The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the Chairman of Saki East Local Government, Hon. Adedokun Olalekan Emmanuel, for six months over alleged anti-party activities, non-remittance of party dues, and gross misconduct.
The suspension followed a disciplinary panel sitting held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the party’s State Secretariat in Molete, Ibadan. The panel, chaired by Hon. Oludayo Opatokun, reviewed the conduct of political functionaries in Saki East and found the chairman guilty of failing to attend or support the PDP general meeting in the local government and instructing others to do the same. He was also accused of withholding statutory party dues and displaying high-handedness in his dealings with the party leadership.
Following its findings, the panel recommended his suspension for six months, during which he would cease to function as chairman. His activities will also be placed under strict observation throughout the period, while he is mandated to remit all outstanding party dues within one week. Other political functionaries, including the vice chairman, who failed to attend the PDP general meeting on February 19, 2025, have been directed to submit written apologies to the state and local party leadership within 72 hours and clear all outstanding dues.
The Oyo PDP commended the Oyo State House of Assembly for its cooperation in upholding discipline and supporting the suspension of Hon. Adedokun. The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal order, emphasizing that erring members would be held accountable. In a statement signed by its Acting Publicity Secretary, Micheal Ogunsina, the party stressed that all apology letters from affected officials must be submitted within 72 hours.
The party reiterated its commitment to ensuring discipline, fairness, and adherence to its core values as it continues its political engagements in the state.
