I Foresee a Significant Opposition – Dotun Sanusi Withdraws from Oyo 2027 Gubernatorial Race
Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Dotun Sanusi, has officially announced his decision to step down from the Oyo State gubernatorial race for 2027. Sanusi made this known during a meeting with stakeholders of the JDS Movement on Tuesday morning, citing strategic considerations for his withdrawal.
In his address, Sanusi expressed deep appreciation to his supporters for their unwavering encouragement but explained that potential opposition influenced his decision.
“If I were to vie for the gubernatorial seat, I believe I would win,” Sanusi said. “However, I foresee a significant opposition that would not benefit my followers. The challenges posed by adversaries far outweigh the support I would receive from friends.”
The entrepreneur also ruled out joining any political party, declaring, “What I have in my hands now transcends politics.”
Sanusi highlighted his current focus on global business ventures, particularly his involvement in the oil and gas sector. He disclosed plans to pursue a major investment opportunity in Ghana’s oil industry, describing it as crucial to his long-term vision.
Adding to his business milestones, Sanusi announced that preparations are underway to officially commission the Ilaji Resort in Malta later this year, further expanding his international footprint.
He urged his supporters to remain steadfast in their commitment to societal growth, emphasizing that his withdrawal from politics would not diminish his contributions to humanity.
