Ibadan North Bye-Election: Agboworin Pledges Support for PDP Candidate, Vows to Secure Victory
The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun (Agboworin), has assured his unwavering support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.
The bye-election, scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Saturday, January 18, 2025, follows the passing of Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was serving his second term in the green chamber.
Speaking during an interview on Fresh 105.9FM’s political program *Agbami Òsèlú*, hosted by Abolade Salami, Agboworin expressed confidence in PDP’s chances to reclaim the seat. He pledged to collaborate with critical stakeholders to replicate the development blueprint of Ibadan South East/North East in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
Agboworin, who serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Narcotics Drugs, emphasized his readiness to work with any candidate chosen by the PDP, ensuring victory at the polls.
“We are committed to supporting whoever emerges as the PDP candidate,” he stated. “If elected, the candidate will benefit from our collective guidance in the National Assembly, enabling him to bring impactful projects to his constituency, just as the late Hon. Akinremi did.”
Agboworin stressed the importance of consolidating PDP’s hold in Oyo State to further its developmental agenda. “The development of Ibadan and Oyo State remains our priority. Myself, Rep. Stanley Adedeji (Odidiomo), and other PDP lawmakers are determined to ensure our state continues to grow,” he added.
Reflecting on Akinremi’s tenure, Agboworin described him as a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly for his people. “He was a ‘striker’ who made significant strides in development,” he noted.
Agboworin also highlighted his own contributions, including the construction of a six-classroom block at Saint Joseph Primary School and financial support for market traders through his Market Grant Scheme. These initiatives, he said, are proof of his commitment to fulfilling promises and driving progress.
With his track record and determination, Agboworin affirmed that the PDP is well-positioned to emerge victorious in the Ibadan North bye-election, ensuring continuous development for the constituency.
