The revered Ijesha Kingdom is set to witness a new chapter in its illustrious history as Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup emerges as the Owa Obokun-elect. A scion of the royal Ajimoko family in Ijesha land, Osun State, Prince Haastrup’s remarkable journey reflects a life of purpose, excellence, and service.

Born on September 19, 1948, into the prestigious lineage of Ijesha royalty, Prince Haastrup epitomizes the blend of tradition and modernity. His early education at Eko Boys’ High School (1963-1967) and Federal School of Science (1968-1969) set the foundation for a distinguished academic pursuit. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Howard University, Washington D.C., USA, in the 1970s, before returning to Nigeria in 1981 to contribute to his homeland.

Prince Haastrup’s foray into politics saw him serve as Deputy Governor of Osun State in 1990. However, his tenure in governance revealed his discomfort with the political landscape, prompting him to shift his focus to business. His visionary leadership has since propelled ENL Consortium Limited, which he founded in 2002, into a conglomerate excelling in power, port operations, real estate, hospitality, construction, and mining.

A staunch advocate for public sector reforms, Prince Haastrup has championed numerous public-private partnerships with key institutions such as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). His company has executed transformative projects for the Federal Road Management Authority (FERMA) and various state governments, cementing his reputation as a nation-builder.

Beyond his professional achievements, Prince Haastrup is a philanthropist whose foundation has awarded educational scholarships to over 500 students locally and internationally. His commitment to human capacity development and the well-being of mankind underscores his profound sense of responsibility as a leader.

As a devoted Christian, Prince Haastrup has consistently attributed his successes to divine providence, embodying humility and grace. His ascension as the Owa Obokun-elect is poised to bring a wealth of experience, wisdom, and visionary leadership to the revered throne of Ijesha land.

Married with children and deeply rooted in his cultural heritage, Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup is expected to uphold the sanctity of the Ijesha tradition while fostering development and unity in the kingdom. His reign is anticipated to be a beacon of progress, drawing from his illustrious career and unwavering dedication to service.

The Ijesha people now look forward to a reign defined by integrity, innovation, and a renewed commitment to the prosperity of the land under the stewardship of their new monarch.
