Ex-Rep member, Muraina, champions skills development, capacity building
American theologian and writer, James Freeman Clarke once said “politicians think of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation.”
The latter part of this statement applies more to three-term Member of the House of Representatives, Dr Ajibola Muraina, who has continued to set a worthy example empowering youths and women, who represent the next generation.
A PhD holder in Law, Muraina, last represented Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the Ninth House of Representatives. The former lawmaker, in one of the many initiatives that demonstrates his dedication to his constituents, facilitated a two-day training on soap-making for scores of residents in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Local Government areas.
The training was anchored by Energy Commission of Nigeria with Hamilek & Sons Global Services Nigeria Limited, with the closing ceremony and presentation of certificates taking place on November 12 in Idere, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area.
Muraina has, over the years, demonstrated his love for the development of the constituency and the personal growth of its people. Thus, the soap-making training was a worthy follow-up to similar programmes aimed at building people, giving them a means of livelihood and solidifying his legacy as a leader committed to the well-being of his people.
Recall that on January 25, 2024, the ex-Rep empowered close to 1,000 residents with the distribution of 100 motorcycles, 500 grinding machines, six tricycles, among other items.
Speaking at the end of the two-day soap-making training, the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Alhaji Moshood Abas, lauded Dr Muraina for facilitating “initiatives that strengthen and empower the youth and the needy in the constituency and beyond.”
He added that if Hon Muraina had been re-elected for a fourth term, the constituents would have been the better for it, stating, however, that the ex-Rep member has continued to benefit his people despite the setback.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Hon Muraina maintained that scores of youths, women, students and the underprivileged in the constituency were targeted with the soap-making training and that certificates were presented to them.
He expressed gratitude to the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for making the initiative a possibility.
