We will deliver Surulere/Ogo oluwa votes for Gov Makinde as we did on 25th February – Olasunkanmi Olaleye
….again, 109 traditional rulers in Surulere LG endorse Makinde
The second term reelection bid of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Saturday received a major boost as one hundred and nine traditional rulers (109) in Surulere local government unanimously endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election.
The development followed a separate meeting at Iresa Adu, organized by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Barrister Olasukanmi Olaleye, with the goal of securing Governor Makinde’s victory on March 11, 2023.
Olaleye, who insisted that Makinde deserved to be given a second term because of “his achievements in various sectors in the state,” met with the 109 traditional rulers to discuss the need to build on PDP’s victory in the Surulere/Ogooluwa Federal Constituency election last Saturday that resulted in Hon. Smato being declared the winner.
The entire monarchs, led by Olosu of Oosu, Chief Adetunji Adeniyi, Alabubu of Abubu, Chief Sunday Ayoola, and other 109 monarchs and minor chiefs, unanimously pledged their support and assured their readiness to deliver the governor in the upcoming election.
The monarch claimed that the state has undergone a significant turnaround as a result of the governor’s work during the past three years, adding that this would make Makinde’s reelection easier.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters also met with all political office holder in Surulere Local Government, including the council chairman, Hon. Isiah Adegbite, and the two LCDA chairmen, in an effort to guarantee a complete victory for Governor Makinde at the polls.
Other attendees included Pastor Taiwo Ogungbenro of the Civil Service Commission, Hon. Sanjo Ogunwole of the Emmanuel Alayande Governing Council, and DG of Seyi Makinde for the second term, among others.
Councillors and Supervisory Councillors, Special Assistants, and all other appointees were also present.
It would be recalled that traditional rulers in the state led by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, the Deputy Chairman of the State Council of Obas, Oba Francis Alao, who is the Olugbon of Orile Igbon and the Okere of Saki, had last year August promised to work tirelessly for the re-election of the governor.
The royal fathers, who converged on the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, hailed the governor for delivering good governance, building infrastructure and for defending the interest of the residents of the state.
The Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Lateef Adebimpe, who spoke on behalf of the Olubadan; the Okere of Saki and the Olugbon of Ile Igbon, Oba Fransis Alao, lauded the governor for what they called his massive achievements in office in a little over three years.
