‘Doctor’ kidnapped in Ogbomoso reportedly escapes, as Army storms Ogbomoso
Report reaching ROUNDOYO says that the ‘Doctor,’ Baba Rasheed, who was kidnapped in Gbede near Ogbomoso yesterday night had escaped from his abductors.
This was confirmed by security agents who had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers since morning.
“Yes, we heard he has escaped thank God but the kidnappers are yet to be captured,” a senior security officer informed ogbomosoinsightonline.com moments ago.
According to information, a combined team of security agencies made up of Operation Burst, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), police, soldiers and local security agencies have been combing the forests.
The kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herders were at about noon tracked to their hideout, believed to be in a place in Kwara state.
“The heat is on them, the response from security agents has been tremendous.
“The criminals were not given breathing space that probably helped the man to escape.”
However, the victim has not been located.
“We are searching hospitals in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state. We heard he has escaped and is in a hospital in Ilorin receiving treatment,” chairman of Surulere local government where the incident happened, Hon Isaiah Adegbite, said when contacted on phone few minutes ago even as sound of drones could be heard in the background.
He assured they were on top of the situation assuring the criminals would be brought to their kneels.
He also promised his admnistration would beef up security in the council area to forestall future occurrences.
Another security agent told newsmen that they are in Oke-Oyi, searching for the abductors, “It has been hectic,” he said.
Hon Temilola Adibi Director General Oyo State Agency for Signage and Advertisement (OYSAA), also disclosed the victim had escaped but yet to be found corroborating the claim that the Surulere local government chairman and others are now looking for the escapee.
“Or perhaps it is a hoax,” he averred, “but we will get to the root of the matter. One commendable thing is that security agents have given their best.’
Meanwhile, the criminals are yet to contact the family.
