Former speaker of the Oyo state house of assembly and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Rt Hon Gunju Ojo has called on party faithfuls to be calm, saying the party has not conducted its state congress in Oyo State.
Speaking with ROUNDOYO on the emergence of Omedewu as the new party chairman, the former speaker said ” lets wait and see, if a congress can be conducted by one member of the congress committe from Abuja, out of seven members.
“Lets wait from the reports of other committe members. The chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke raised alarm that the delegates list has been doctored, he said thats not what was sent to Abuja. We boycotted the process due to the claim of the party chairman.
“If they want to hijack the party, let them move on and we will wait and see if they we still hijack the electorates. We’ve made a press conference and we are on our stand that the congress conducted by the committe Secretary is void and illegal,” he added.
The Oriire born politician said, discussions are ongoing and in few days time, they will reach a conclusion on the next step.
Omodewu emerged at a congress held at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road, Ibadan.
Omodewu emerged despite some members of the party, at a press conference, faulting the delegates’ list and calling for the cancellation of the congress.
Among those who faulted the entire process, describing the delegates’ list as jaundiced are Senator Ayo Adeseun, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Dr Joseph Tegbe, Mr Sunday Dare, Professor Adeolu Akande, Honourable Tolu Sadipe, Rt Hon Gunju Ojo, Hon Saheed Fijabi, Barr Bayo Akintola SAN, among others.
