…….urge leaders to support youths, rather than discouraging them.
On the occasion of this year’s international youth day, Executive Chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has rolled out the drums to celebrate Nigerian youths, celebrating them for their resilience towards addressing many challenges in the society especially during the aftermath of COVID- 19 pandemic.
Hon Oyedokun in a statement made available to newsmen by his media aide, Mr Femi Ajiboye gave this message in celebration of International Youth Day with the theme “Transforming food systems
Youth innovation for human and planetary health,” which is a UN-designated day for the recognition and celebration of youths around the world.
He admonished leaders to at all categories to take a clue from Oyo state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde who has created a youth inclusive society, allowing them to meaningfully contribute towards the growth and development of the state.
He further urged leaders to support the youths rather than discourage them, saying: “ Our leaders must give we youths hope by using our language to bring out the best in us and allowing us to grow for the greater benefit of our country.
” We youth should also ensure we take part in the political process, its those who are there that would be considered. If trully we youths are ready to change the narratives in Nigeria political space lets take active part in politics and fill the space” he added.
He also called on youth to be more creative and leverage on various oppurtunities created by the current administration particularly in agribusiness due to the economic impact of COVID-19 which he said had made the job market more challenging for youth.
The Council boss however assured youths in his local government that his administration will provide an enabling environment for the private sector and agribusiness to thrive so as to ensure greater opportunities for jobs to be created for the youths.
