In reaction to the dissolution of the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Hon Dr Paul Ajagbe has said Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has further asserted that his government is peoples oriented.
The Ogbomoso born politician said this on Saturday while expressing his happiness over the dissolution of the tertiary institution between Osun and Oyo state, saying the state governor has put an end to tears, agonies and pains of students, parents, lecturers and residents of Ogbomoso.
Hon Ajagbe said it was evident that past administration played politics with the future of the youths and we’ll being of the citizens, has their plans to privatize the institution did not see the light of the day.
He further asserted that, he believes that as the institution is now solely owned by Oyo state, the LAUTECH everyone was proud of, especially in 2004 when it won several accolades will spring up once again.
Similarly, he applauded the Governor of Osun state, Gov Gboyega Oyetola for not frustrating the divorce process has his predecessor has done. Also he commended the five man committee set up by the governor of oyo state describing them as successful hands.
It would be recalled that the university was established before Osun was excised from Oyo State in 1991 and has remained under the joint ownership of the two sister states. But the school has routinely had its academic calendar disrupted by workers’ strike over non-payment of salaries and allowances, arising from poor funding by the owner states.
Student bodies and members of staff of the institution have embarked on countless protests over the inability of the owner states to fund the institution.
However, the National Universities Commission has transferred ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.
