Paul Ajagbe commends Makinde over Amotekun, says police can’t handle local crimes

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogbomoso North LG, Hon Dr Paul Olukunle Ajagbe has lauded Oyo state government over the just concluded training exercise for Amotekun security outfit.

He said he believe that the security outfit would curb security challenges in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Speaking with our correspondent, Hon Ajagbe said it has been evident that the Nigeria Police cannot handle local crimes effectively across the country.

“The police cannot take care of crimes nowadays, with what happened in Ibadan where a suspect escaped in their custody, there were reports that it was local security who help re-arrest the suspect. So with this security outfit commencing operation fully, its a welcome development,” he said.

The Ogbomoso born medical practitioner added that he believes that the rate of criminal activities within the community would reduce and as well prevent crime from taking place because the residents were now involved in checking crimes and criminals.

Meanwhile, he lauded Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for putting party differences aside and joining Hands with his counterparts in the South-West region of the country to find a lasting solution to the protection of lives and properties of their citizens.

However, he urged residents of Oyo state to cooperate with the Amotekun security outfit to ensure it achieved its purpose.

“Amotekun cannot do it alone, residents must work with them to detect suspected criminals in the community.

“And when residents see the effectiveness, people, organisations and corporate bodies will not hesitate to contribute toward its progress.
