INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DAY: OOT charge students to engage in political activities.

Caretaker Chairman, Ogbomoso South local government, has lamented the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), accusing the federal government of failure to give students priority attention in the affairs of the country.

Hon Oyedokun, made this known on Tuesday in commemoration of World International Students Day, noting that the APC led government has made life unbearable for majority of Nigerian students and the entire populace.

OOT, has fondly called expressed dissatisfaction with the nonchalant attitude of the federal government to education matters.

“Look at how the federal government is crippling the public university education. How long will members of ASUU and even non-academic staff continue to embark on strike as a last resort?

“Right now, Nigerian public universities are in a very delicate shape as the FG has already crumbled it into pieces with the ongoing months strike. In fact, this current stalemate may usher in the total demise of our public university system if nothing is done, and urgently too.”

Furthermore, Hon Oyedokun charged Nigerian students and youths to team up with people of like minds to engage in political activities.

He said the politics of the country should no longer be left in the hands of professional politicians who have proved themselves incapable to address the crisis of underdevelopment.

He however commended Oyo state governor, saying that the governor has not failed in his promise of looking into the interest of Oyo State students.

International Students’ Day is an international observance of the student community, held annually on 17 November.
