Member representing Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Jacob Bamigboye has made a case for the normalization of the service of teachers seconded to the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) from the State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB).
Hon Bamigboye made the appeal while presenting a Matter of Urgent Public Importance at the floor of the House in Ibadan.
According to him, the Oyo State Government in 2017 seconded two thousand graduate teachers from Primary Schools to Secondary Schools and up till now their process of secondment has not been normalized as they still get their salaries and allowances from SUBEB
Hon Bamigboye added that with this development, the seconded teachers have been relegated among their colleagues in Secondary Schools while their counterparts they left in Primary Schools are now better placed.
The Lawmaker maintained that the time to normalize and regularize the service of the 2017 seconded teachers was now when Oyo State TESCOM is set to employ new teachers.
The House in its resolution urged its Committee on Education to liaise with the necessary stakeholders especially the State Commissioner for Education and the leadership of TESCOM on the issue of the 2017 Seconded teachers and report back to the House, while the Legislature also appealed to TESCOM to ensure the normalization of the transfer of the affected teachers and accord them all their rightful benefits and entitlements.
