Open Salawu harps on enabling environment for private sector to enable them tackle unemployment

…says it’s time to unlock potentials in youth

Chairman Opinior group of companies, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Engr Muftau Open Salawu has tasked the government at all levels to create a friendly environment for private sector to tackle the level of unemployment.

He said ” the Government needs to create enable environment for private sector to thrive and employ more citizens. You can imagine if we have the likes of Dangote in the 36 states that can employ 200,000 workers in each state that means we will have 7.2 million people employed, that would have taken care of huge unemployment cap in the country.

Engr Muftau Open Salawu, an aspirant of the Federal House of representatives in the last election made this known in a statement made available to ROUNDOYO, where he said its time to unlock the potential in youth entrepreneurship for the betterment of the country.

The former Special adviser to the Oyo State governor on works and transport during the late Sen Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi administration, notes that Nigerians should be aware the the government can’t provide job for all applicants in the country.

He said with the population of the country, and how the youths are hungry for job in civil service, an orientation will help turn youths to employer of labour rather than job seekers.

It would be recalled that recently, the Ogbomoso born civil engineer embarked on training of students mainly youths across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state on skills and vocational training.

He said “Nigerians should be aware that government can’t provide job for all the applicants in the country, as of today the number of federal civil servants are not more than 1.2 million out of over 200 million population of the country. I understand a lot of youths want Government job because of job security and every youth also want to be happy, comfortable and be rich but the truth is that it is very difficult to realise that without compromising with the rules of engagement in civil service. More so what Government pays as wages can’t make you a million.

“The Government needs to create enable environment for private sector to thrive and employ more citizens. You can imagine if we have the like of dangote in the 36 states that can employ 200,000 in each state that means we will have 7.2 million employed, that would have taken care of huge unemployment cap in the country.

“Our wealth is our population and the youths are about 60% of the population and the earlier we unlock the potential in youth entrepreneurship the better for the country. Let us start with proper Orientation and I disagreed with those that said reorientation.

” Most people don’t even have ideas of what to do with their life as it is now and that is why you see a graduate of Mechanical engineering taking his Car to a road side Mechanic for service. We all need money but Sincerely those that are richer all over the world are people with ideas. We have a lot of potential in Nigeria we just need the right environment to succeed. God bless Nigeria.
