The Leadership of the legislative arm of FOSSU union, Sen. Ajadi Isaac has decried the killing of one of the members of FOSSU in Ogbomoso. He says the Police officer must be brought to book.
It is noted that, earlier yesterday that some concerned youth took to the streets of Ogbomoso joining their colleagues in protest against police brutality, in support of the Nationwide clamour for an end to the Special Anti robbery unit of the Nigerian Police Force, otherwise known as SARS with the hash tag _#Endsars_ . Furthermore, it is recalled that the incessant harassment and killings by SARS operatives in a couple of years now has been on the increase to the extent that Nigeria youths cannot bear anymore, more because most of the victims neither are fraudsters or criminals.
In lamenting the yesterday’s killing he states “The killing of jimoh isiak has created a huge vacuum in the indigenous Students Populace in Oyo state” adding that the known fact that he was, at the time shot, exercising his fundamental right to freedom of expression.
It is on this note that he appreciates the prompt intervention of Chairman Ogbomoso Parapo, Hon Minister for Youths and sports development, (Hon. Sunday Dare) for standing by the youths and the peaceful protesters even amidst the crisis. He further cheers the peaceful protesters saying that, “when you believe in something, fight for it and when you see injustice, fight harder than you’ve ever fought before. the perpetrators of this act should be thoroughly to face the wrath of law as soon as possible”.
“As the the son of the soil who represents the interest of Ogbomoso and Oyo state students across Nigeria and beyond, I stand firm by the peaceful protesters and frown at the killing of the innocent life, as I also agitate for total reform of the SARS unit and Police Force entirely to bring sanity to the profession.”
Conclusively, Sen. Ajadi Isaac hereby gives a 14 days ultimatum to Ogbomoso Area Command of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to make a statement to the public and the officer who perpetrated this wanton act be prosecuted accordingly.
The Senator sternly warns further that if this is not done, the entire Ogbomoso and Oyo state students and youths would not hesitate to mobilise en mass to Owode Police Station after the expiration of the given time.
