Caretaker chairman, Ogbomoso South local government area, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy has expressed his words of felicitation to Teachers on 2020 World Teachers Day, urging them to continue to put in their best and recognise their role in ensuring the future of Nigerian children
This is contained in a goodwill message made available to newsmen by his special adviser on Media, Mr Adewuyi Adebukola on Monday, the chairman noted that teachers should be celebrated for their efforts and influence on a child’s life and education.
OOT has fondly called said the efforts teachers has really developed the nation in human capacity through selfless services, innovations, science and technology.
The United Nations in 1994 proclaimed Oct. 5 as World Teachers’ Day to celebrate the role teachers play in providing quality education at all levels.
He said that teachers play vital role in nation building, as they help nurture desirable, useful and purposeful children to take up leadership positions in the country.
“ 2020 has so far been an unusual time that has pushed teachers, students and parents to adjust to tremendous change and become accustomed to a new normal. What has not changed however, is our desire, as parents, to do our best for our children, to give our best, that they may grow into fine women and men.”
“Our hope in 2020, amidst these uncertain times of safe-distancing and restrictions, is to continue partnering the school and parents to carry out programmes or projects that help foster joy in students, that they find school an enjoyable place to forge strong friendships in, and to help parents find support in each other as we continue to journey as parents to teenagers.
“I commend all our teachers for their steadfastness, commitment, and dedication towards moulding the future of our children.”
Oyedokun further appreciated the effort of Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment towards the welfare of teachers in Oyo state.
