Why Mulikat Akande Adeola asked Gov Makinde to Sack Commissioner for Works, Prof Afonja

More details have been emerging from close associates of the Sacked Oyo State commissioner for Works Prof. Raphael Afonja

ROUNDOYO learnt that he was sacked following the reconciliation of Governor Seyi Makinde and Former majority leader of the House of Representatives, RT Hon Mulikat Akande Adeola, whose interest Afonja represented in the government.

Alhaja Mulikat, one of the PDP leaders in Ogbomoso and Senatorial candidate of the party in Oyo North Senatorial District in the last election fell out with Gov Makinde after the Governor neglected her camp when giving out appointments, has she was only given one Commissioner and one LG caretaker chairman.

But Afonja was not the preferred candidate of the Ogbomoso-born politician was nominated by Alhaja Mulikat after the Governor allegedly requested for a Professor from her camp.

After Afonja’s appointment, it was learnt the tenuous relationship between him and his perceived sponsor, party executives and party members in Ogbomoso went sour has he was alleged of neglecting all of them.

A source in Mulikat camp even said the sacked commissioner told them to stop disturbing him that he is not a commissioner for Ogbomoso only but for the whole Oyo state

But the Alhaja Mulikat, having reconciled with Makinde, demanded that Afonja be replaced.

The governor, it was learnt, wanted to sack Afonja while he was in isolation for COVID-19 treatment, but people begged him that this might be misconstrued.

Afonja was sacked on Monday, hours after resuming work, having recovered from Coronavirus infection.
