As part of its bid to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on Oyo State workers, Oyo State Government has distributed food palliatives to teachers across the 33 local government in Oyo State.
The food palliatives which was handed over to the teachers union yesterday in Ibadan consists of Indomie, Spaghetti and Macaroni.
Speaking with journalists this morning while distributing the food palliatives to primary school teachers in Ogbomoso Zone, the Administrative officer of LGUBEA In Ogbomoso North local government, Alhaji Ogungbade Ajibade appreciates the state governor for providing succor for the teachers as he noted that despite the pandemic the governor continued to pay workers salaries as at when due.
Among items received by primary school teachers in Ogbomoso zone were over 1000 cartoons of Indomie, over 800 cartoons of Spaghetti and over 600 cartoons of Macaroni.
Meanwhile, the NUT alleged the zone Association of Primary school head teachers of Nigeria, AOPSHON of extortion as they had earlier asked each teachers to pay a sum of N100 to cover transport fares.
An executive of NUT in Ogbomoso North local government who want to remain anonymous said ” When we calculated the N100 they asked teachers to pay it’s over N700,000 and this is extortion, that’s why we’ve kicked against it, the Governor gave us free and our members are not going to pay any dime. At least other zones are not extorting their own teachers.
