Schools in Ogbomoso again has become one of the beneficiaries of Lions Club’s humanitarian services with its tree planting campaign in commemoration of the world tree planting day.
Anglican Grammar School, ADS Primary School and Ogbomoso Central LCDA all benefitted as Ogbomoso Crown Lions Club, District 404B 2 donated and planted variety of trees at the aforementioned locations.
President, Ogbomoso Crown Lions Club, Lion Adeyinka Remi Oluwaseun, whose club sponsored the trees as part of its monthly activities project, said: ‘’We are a humanitarian organisation. We went into tree planting because not too much attention is paid to tree planting anymore. Instead the trees are being cut down in the name of civilisation. There is, therefore, need to pay attention to this vital part of our society,Let us save the environment.”
Speaking at the event, Dr Paul Ajagbe a medical practitioner who planted some trees during the event, said the trees when fully grown would beautify the school premises, supply oxygen, shade and make the area cool when it is hot.
Also, Alhaji Abdurahman Abdulrauf, one of the planters also appreciated the Lion’s saying theyare leaving a legacy for generations unborn, adding that it the project will protecting and sustain the environment has numbers of those who will benefit cannot be guessed.
In their response, Headmistress ADS Primary School, Oke Ado Akintola area, represented by Alhaji Quazim Olaosebikan thanked Loins for the gesture, promising that the pupils would ensure that the trees were taken care.
Also Present at the event are, Alhaji Sharafadeen Aremu Sarek Gold, Chief Tunde Aremu, Mrs Ronke Olalulde, Onirese House Foundation among others.
