Ogbomoso Central LCDA Chair Wife charges Traditional and community leaders on rape-free society

Wife of the Chairman of Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Mrs Adewumi Adeyinka has charged Traditional rulers and community leaders across the state to ensure that their domains are rape-free.

She lamented that most cases happen in the context of an intimate partnership, within the larger family or community structure.

Mrs Adeyinka made this call, yesterday, during a rape-free door to door campaign she organized, where she urged rape victims to break their silence and ensure that perpetrators don’t go scot-free.

She said“ Sexual Violence is fast becoming a serious menance to our Country and the entire world at large. It is a barbaric debasing of the human rights of victims which has both short and long term consequences on their physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health.

“Whether sexual violence occurs in the context of an intimate partnership, within the larger family or community structure, or during times of conflict, it is a deeply violating and painful experience for the survivors which must be checked and managed effectively”.

Mrs Adeyinka however called on all Nigerians to rise as a nation and put in place “structures that guide against such act of Inhumanity to the women folk and say no completely to any form of abuse in general”.

Among those present at the rally were, the Secretary Ogbomoso North Local Government, Mrs Oritoke Adijat, Wife of the Chairman Irepodun Local Government, Alhaja Aisat Sulaiman, Council members and other local council staff.
