The 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration was held at the heroes arcade Oja Igbo, ogbomoso, on Wednesday.
In Nigeria, every 15th day of January is the day set aside to honour the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the good of the Nigerian nation.
As a way of showing respect to these fallen heroes, Local government and LCDA chairmen in Ogbomoso and environs,Obas and other eminent personalities including families of the fallen soldiers attended the 2020 Armed Forces remembrance celebration program, organized by the Nigeria Legion in the Ogbomosho zonal Area.
Speaking chairman Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Hon Seun Adeyinka, said the remembrance calls for a sober reflection as regards the state of security in the nation, bearing in mind the spate of insurgency in the country.
Further more, he stated that the best way to commemorate the departure of fallen heroes and heroines is for Nigerians to resolve to live together in peace and unity as a group of PEOPLES.
He used the opportunity to relate Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration commitment to prioritise the security of lives and properties of the populace.
The caretaker chairman, Orire Local Government,Hon. Mrs Bankole, responded on behalf of the chairmen and as a part of their own contribution to the welfare of the families of the fallen heroes, they donated a sum of N600,000 to the families of the departed souls, and 240,000 to their widows.
