Oyo State Governor, Engr Oluseyi Makinde has disclosed that the former administration in the state led by Senator Abiola Ajimobi must explain how he spent N5.2 billion in 3 weeks to his take over of government.
The Governor made this disclosure yesterday during the quarterly live interview programme, Meet the Governor, on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS).
He said the past administration spent N5.2 billion from the states account to N19,000, 3 weeks before he was sworn in as governor which he said it left the state account paralysed.
Governor Makinde also alleged Abiola Ajimobi led administration of operating multiple accounts up to 67, awarding of contracts at high rates, loopholes, and collection of returns from contractors. Adding that there is no proper account on the Oyo state health insurance scheme, promising that all will be investigated thoroughly.
Furthermore he stressed that the amount which were being awarded at the dying stages of the regime were unbelievable assuring that his administration has began to cut down the inflated amounts added to those contracts.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that earlier this month, the governor signed the Oyo state anti graft agency bill into law at a brief ceremony which was held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office in Agodi, describing the move as an opportunity for his administration to prove to the world that he can run a transparent and accountable government.
